To change the application settings, select Settings->Preferences.... This opens the Preferences dialog, shown in Figure 3.
The properties in the Personal information tab are:
Fill in your name. This information will be saved in the po file.
Fill in your e-mail address. This information will be saved in the po file.
Choose a query domain from the drop down list.
The properties in the Language settings tab are:
Choose from the dropdown list the target language. Gtranslator fills in the rest of the form with default values for the given language. You may modify the preset values, but usually you can safely use the default settings.
This field displays the ISO 639-2 language code used for the language chosen above. The name of the PO file will be based on this setting.
This field displays the email address used by the language team.
The Charset field displays the encoding used to store the po file. Gtranslator offers you a default setting.
Using alternate encodings: Default charset settings offered by Gtranslator can be used safely when translating po files for the GNOME 1.4 platform. GNOME 2.0 will use UTF-8 encoding for all languages, thus you need the alter the defaults when translating for 2.x platforms. You may also want to switch encoding to be able to use the "euro" sign.
After you have made all the changes you want, click on OK to apply the changes and close the Properties dialog. To cancel the changes and return to previous values, click the Close button.
